Badge Prototypes!

Now that the demos for Pokémon Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire are becoming available, everyone is getting excited for the newest Pokémon games! SPLI wants to share that excitement with you all by releasing a teaser photo of some badge prototypes that we’ve been working on for the SPLI Pokémon League!

Gym Badge Prototypes (clockwise from top left) – Psychic, Grass, Normal, Bug & Electric

Please note that these badges are not currently in full production, and are not available to SPLI Pokémon League participants just yet. But we are planning some meetup events for the coming months that will allow Pokémon trainers to challenge the SPLI Pokémon League Gym Leaders and collect awesome badges like these!

Don’t forget that while we wait for all the details of these upcoming League Events, you can still challenge the SPLI Pokémon League Gym Leaders on WIFI right now! Send your challenge requests out and you can battle each gym type and see how you match up against some strong NY-area trainers! Visit the SPLI Pokémon League page for more information on how to challenge us. You’ll need at least eight Gym Badges (virtual or real) to challenge the SPLI Elite Four, so get ready for some fierce battling!

SPLI Pokémon League

300x300logoSPLI is proud to announce the debut of our new SPLI Pokémon League! We’ve brought together a variety of trainers from the Long Island/NYC area who will be our SPLI Gym Leaders for the first season of the League, and now it’s time for YOU to challenge them! Every Gym Leader has a mono-type team, and if you can beat 8 Gym Leaders and win their badges then you have earned the right to take on the SPLI Elite Four!

The Elite Four will be available to challenge at special SPLI Events, and whoever can beat all 4 will be crowned the SPLI Champion!

Do you have what it takes to be the very best? Take on our Pokémon League and see if you can beat our Gym Leaders! To get started, visit the SPLI Pokémon League page and be sure to read the rules. Then you can use the drop-down menu to find the Gym that you’d like to challenge, and use the form on the Gym Page to challenge the Gym Leader. Good luck!

What You Missed: SPLI 2nd Anniversary!

For those of you who weren’t able to attend our SPLI 2nd Anniversary Party on August 17th at Empire Gaming in Farmingdale, here is a quick recap of all the fun stuff that you missed!

Since we know that Long Island gamers like to play both Smash Bros. and Pokémon, we decided to run two tournaments! SPLI hosted a Pokémon Triathlon, which comprised of Single, Double and Triple Battles. Meanwhile, Team Crossfire (#TeamXFIRE) hosted a Smash Bros. Tournament, so there was awesome gaming all day long!

Congratulations to Peter O. (aka Shellshock) who won the Pokémon Triathlon!

SPLI @ The Pokemon Symphony

Last weekend, on Friday August 15th, the very first performance of the new Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions concert had it’s debut at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC. SPLI Co-Founders JDubz and Glux took the trip down to see the show, of course! We have just about the entire concert (minus part of one song, when Glux’s phone died and she had to switch to recording on the 3DS lol!) available on YouTube, so please check it out! We hear rumors that the concert might come to NY later this fall, so be sure to keep checking the Pokemon website for upcoming tour dates. This was a great show and all Pokemon fans should try to see it!

What You Missed: Wii Sports Club Bowling Night!

Missed out on StreetPass Long Island’s latest event, Wii Sports Club Bowling Night? Here’s a recap! The event took place on Sunday, 7/27/14 at Herrill Lanes in New Hyde Park, NY. SPLI members were joined by our NoA rep Derek for game demos of the new “all-in-one” disc version of the popular game Wii Sports Club, which is only available for the Nintendo Wii U. We enjoyed playing the bowling game, which seemed very familiar to those of us who had Wii Sports for the original Wii system. Gotta be careful not to spin the ball by turning your wrist the wrong way!

We played the game demo while we waited for everyone to arrive, and then we picked out our bowling balls and rental shoes! Members split into groups and showed off their bowling skills (or lack thereof lol!) while making jokes and Big Lebowski references. Check out the photos below, and make sure not to miss our next event – it’s gonna be a BIG one! We’ll be posting more info soon, but we are hosting the SPLI 2nd Anniversary Party on August 17th!

What You Missed: Tomodachi Life Ice Cream Social!

StreetPass Long Island’s latest event was this past Sunday, 7/20/14! We hosted a “Tomodachi Life Ice Cream Social” to celebrate the awesome new 3DS game. Lots of new SPLI members came out to socialize, and we had so much fun meeting everyone and adding new Mii’s to our islands! Of course, it wouldn’t be a Tomodachi Life event without enjoying a few mini games, so we asked a few Quirky Questions to the group, and hosted a “Name that Videgame Tune” game where members were able to win official Nintendo swag, courtesy of NoA Rep Derek Z! Everyone left with free goodies and a stomach full of ice cream – what better way to end the weekend??

See below for photos from the event. If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry because we have another event planned for next Sunday (7/27) so visit our Facebook Group to get all of the info!

What You Missed: SPLI “Tiki Cup” Go Kart Race!

Mario Kart 8 fans came out to Tiki Action Park in Centereach, NY on 6/22 for a hilarious cosplay go kart event! StreetPass Long Island showcased some awesome cosplay; we had Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Shy Guy, and even Bullet Bill racing in go-karts for some Live Action Mario Kart! It was a blast and we took lots of photos so please take a look!
