Pokemon X&Y Event: 2/23

Do you want to be the very best, like no one ever was?? Then come prove your Pokemon prowess at StreetPass Long Island’s Pokemon X&Y Event at Empire Gaming in Farmingdale, NY.  The event will start at 12pm on Sunday, 2/23! RSVP on Facebook now!

  • Pokemon X&Y Tournament: Prepare yourself for the upcoming official PVGC tournaments by battling your fellow SPLI members!  We will be using the official tournament rules set forth by The Pokemon Company: Doubles Standard Format. Please remember that all Pokemon entered in this tournament must be Kalos Native (meaning it must be a Pokemon that was hatched or caught in the Kalos region. You can tell if your Pokemon is Kalos Native if there is a blue pentagon on their Pokemon details screen.) but they can be from the National Pokedex. The winner of the tournament will win a shiny competitive-ready (perfect IV’s, ability, nature, etc.) in-game Pokemon and a perler bead Pokemon prize! As usual, the final round will be broadcast on our big display monitor for everyone to see!
Note the blue pentagon under Chespin, next to the marker symbols.
  • Pokemon X&Y PR Video Contest:  Have you created the coolest Pokemon X&Y PR Video for your trainer character? We will be hosting a PR Video Contest and whoever has the best video will win a great prize! Show off your style, video editing, favorite Pokemon, or whatever you want! All videos will be broadcast on our big screen display monitor for all attendees to see, and we will vote by applause to determine the winner.
  • Pokemon Rumble U Freeplay:  Throughout the event, we will be hosting Pokemon Rumble U on the Wii U for SPLI members to play. Bring down your Pokemon NFC figures to trade with other members too! StreetPass Long Island even has some NFC’s to give away during the event, so you won’t want to miss it!
  • Pokedex 3D Pro Quizzes:  For those who want to show off their Pokemon knowledge, we will switch back and forth from Rumble U to Pokedex 3D Pro, and offer prizes for the winners! We have some great prizes thanks to donations from SPLI members.
  • Pokemon TCG fans are welcome to bring their decks and battle each other! Note: Since SPLI is exclusively a Nintendo video-game based group, we aren’t hosting an official TCG tournament, but Empire Gaming manager Joe has all of the info for upcoming TCG League games! You can also pick up new X&Y TCG packs at Empire Gaming!

What You Missed: The Legend of Zelda-themed Archery Competition

Zelda fans from across the tri-state area came together to show off their archery skills for the Legend of Zelda-themed Archery Competition, hosted by StreetPass Long Island and StreetPass NYC in Ozone Park, NY on November 17th.  Under the guidance of professionally trained archery experts courtesy of Proline Archery Lanes, StreetPass fans learned to shoot a Long Bow and participated in a tournament using Zelda-themed targets!  Check out some photo highlights below and visit the full album on our Facebook Page.

StreetPass Leaders Debbie Gluzband and Jordan White taking aim during the practice round, with SPLI Admin Lance Eustache preparing to shoot.
Proline Archery’s professional instructors taught Legend of Zelda fans the proper way to handle the Long Bow.
In between rounds competitors played StreetPass games!
StreetPass members created custom target areas on Zelda villain characters for the Competition.
Those who shot their arrow in the target area of the Zelda target moved onto the finals!
The Competition was won by Daniel C. In second place was Mark R. and Jonathan P. received third place.
Competition winners were awarded with perler bead ‘medals’ made to look like the Hero’s Bow.
SPLI Leader Jeff Weinstein challenged the group to make a 20 yard trick shot – hit the eyeball on the Eye Switch target. He offered a $35 eShop Gift Card if anyone could hit the bullseye. Sadly, the prize went unclaimed and will be saved for a future challenge!

What You Missed: CROSSFIRE 3.16.13

For Long Island gamers, Farmingdale was the place to brawl on 3.16.13!  With over 75 competitors, the new CROSSFIRE Series by theDuL0R and ANTi was a huge success!  Competing in the top Smash games (Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Project M), gamers came to compete for cash prizes in both Singles and Doubles Tournaments.

The CROSSFIRE Event Series is held at Empire Gaming & Comics, located at 337 Main Street in Farmingdale, NY.  Empire Gaming has a great space for all of our Wii and GC Set Ups, and we plan to return for many future events there!

In addition to the huge Brawl Tournament, Empire Gaming was really awesome and set up a “StreetPass Lounge” complete with couches and an N64 for some old school Brawling!  Taking advantage of this extra space, StreetPass Long Island set up shop in the StreetPass Lounge.  Free pizza and sodas were given out, and friendly matches of Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed 3DS and Mario Kart 7 were ongoing!  We were even able to get our first group photo of some of our SPLI members!  (Sorry to those who arrived later and were not around when this picture was taken!  Next time!!)

Due to the HUGE success of the CROSSFIRE event series, there will be more installments in the near future!  Check back in May for more details!  Hope to see you at Empire Gaming!

PS – Check the Smash Boards for the results of CROSSFIRE!
