Dave & Busters Birthday Bash

Two years ago, SPLI held a birthday party event for a few Admins who all happen to have a birthday in April. Well… this year we decided to do it again! Unfortunately our favorite DnB (Farmingdale) closed a few weeks ago, so we will be hosting this event at the Westbury location. It is somewhat accessible to public transportation! You can either take the LIRR to Carle Place (rare) and walk, or take the LIRR to Mineola and take the N24 bus down Old Country Road to reach Dave & Busters at the Source Mall!

This is a casual meetup. You can come late, leave early, do your own thing and play whatever games you want! Presents not required. Cake is limited! lol

What You Missed: SPLI Amiibo Only Tournament (March)

Last night, SPLI hosted our latest Amiibo Only Tournament at Game Hut in Babylon, NY.  There were many upsets, and Weegee didn’t make it to the finals! (Phew!) However, we did see Sean S. take home the top prize once again with his Mario Amiibo “SMPS”!

Next month we will be changing the format for the Amiibo Only Tournament, in an effort to switch things up and give others a chance to win. Stay tuned for more info! Until then, take a look at some photos from our March Tournament.

What You Missed: Super Mario Cosplay Party with MP10!

SPLI is proud to announce that ZERO FRIENDSHIPS WERE RUINED at the Super Mario Cosplay Party with MP10 event, held this past Sunday at Game Hut in Babylon, NY. We had a ton of fun in our cosplay outfits, and we also got to try out the ever-exciting Bowser Mode in Mario Party 10!

Super Mario Cosplay Party with MP10

Who’s excited for the release of Mario Party 10, hitting shelves today? SPLI sure is, and we are happy to announce that we are adding another event for March – this SUNDAY, 3/22  from 3pm – 6pm at Game Hut in Babylon! Note that this will be an OFFICIAL NINTENDO event!

Hosted by the Long Island Nintendo Rep Derek Z., we will be celebrating MP10 in style… and by that we mean Super Mario Cosplay, of course! Join SPLI as we dress up as our favorite Super Mario characters while trying out a demo of MP10. Will friendships be ruined???

Did we mention that there will be FREE GIVEAWAYS for all attendees? If you don’t have any cosplay outfits, Derek will have some Mario themed hats and shirts so you can still have some cosplay fun with us! Don’t wanna dress up? That’s ok too! You can still come and participate!

What You Missed: SPLI Pokemon League E4 Challenge

SPLI’s latest event was on 3/15/15 – the SPLI Pokemon League Elite Four Challenge! Hosted at Game Hut in Babylon, Pokemon trainers came to compete with the SPLI Pokemon League Gym Leaders and try to earn the chance to face the Elite Four! Our Gym Leaders proved to be tougher than expected, with only one strong trainer making it all the way to challenge the E4! We hope for even tougher competition for the next League event, so keep EV training…

SPLI Amiibo Only Tournament (March)

Last month’s Amiibo Only Tournament helped to form some interesting rivalries among the top performing challengers. And when Jeff’s Luigi Amiibo “Weegee” won the tournament, others vowed vengeance. (Specifically Debbie and her Bowser Amiibo “King Koopa” who was unfortunately trounced early on in the tournament.)

As we mentioned at the event, SPLI is looking to make this a monthly tournament (schedule permitting). This time we plan to also do a live stream of the tournament on our Twitch TV channel!

SPLI Pokemon League E4 Challenge!

If you haven’t heard of the StreetPass Long Island Pokémon League, now is the time to check it out! Why? Because if you start challenging the SPLI League Gym Leaders now via WIFI, you will be on the fast track to challenging the SPLI League Elite Four at our next upcoming event!

Here’s the deal. The SPLI League Elite Four is made up some of the toughest Pokémon trainers in the area. We had a little tournament to decide which trainers would be the E4, and these trainers proved their worth! Can you beat these mighty mono-type teams??

Want to know more about the Elite Four? The Gyms are Steel, Fire, Dark and Ghost. Each Gym has a different ruleset so be sure to read up on these Gyms before the event!

If you want to challenge the SPLI League Elite Four, you will need to have earned 8 Gym Badges from the regular Gym Leaders in our league. You can do this at the event, as we are planning to have many Gym Leaders on hand. However, time and space is limited, so it will be in your best interest to get some Gym Badges before the day of the event, 3/15. You can earn Gym Badges by challenging the SPLI Gym Leaders via WIFI! All you have to do is fill out the form on the Gym’s page and you can challenge the Gym Leader online. Select a Gym from the dropdown menu and get started now! You’ll be ready to challenge the Elite Four right away if you can earn your Gym Badges in advance, so why wait?

NOTE: This is not a Tournament. This is a challenge event. You can use OR/AS or X/Y as long as the Gym Leader you are challenging agrees to it. Gym Leaders keep records of their wins and losses, which is how we will determine who can face the Elite Four. If you want to check how many Gym Badges you currently have, please contact a Gym Leader, or email info@spli.org with your questions. Thanks!

SPLI members had a blast last night at the Game Hut in Babylon, NY! We were hosting the first local Amiibo Only Tournament on Long Island, and 22 people brought down their toughest Amiibo for a chance to win! The competition was fierce, with plenty of upsets! SPLI members came out despite the arctic freeze to shoot some arrows at the Majora’s Mask Archery event on 2/19/15! We gave out free goodies to all attendees, including custom targets and actual Majora’s Masks!

After seeing how much fun everyone had at Apex 2015, we’ve decided to keep running more Amiibo Only Tournaments for our members! Join us for our February Amiibo Only Tournament, which will be held at Game Hut in Babylon, NY on 2/22 from 6pm – 8pm.
